We compiled a list of more than 100 vacation destinations across the United States. These locations were chosen based on their popularity among travelers, as indicated by tourism data, travel publications, and online travel platforms.

2. Key Cost Factors:

• Meals: The average daily cost of meals per person was calculated using data from a variety of sources, including restaurant pricing databases and local dining guides. We considered the cost of three meals per day at mid-range restaurants.
• Accommodations: We used booking platforms such as Booking.com, Expedia, and Airbnb to determine the average cost of a standard hotel room or equivalent accommodation per night. The focus was on mid-range options that represent typical lodging choices for average travelers.
• Transportation: The average cost of local transportation per day was estimated, including public transportation, taxis, and rideshare services. For some destinations, the cost of car rentals and parking was also factored in.
• Attractions: We calculated the average daily cost of popular tourist attractions and activities, such as museum entries, guided tours, and entertainment. This data was sourced from local tourism websites and major booking platforms.

Data Analysis:

1. Calculating Daily Costs:

• For each destination, we aggregated the average daily costs of meals, accommodations, transportation, and attractions to determine the total cost per day per person.
• These daily costs were then multiplied by seven to estimate the total cost for a 7-day trip per person.

2. Family Vacation Costs:

To provide a more comprehensive view, we also calculated the costs for a family of four. This included adjusting accommodation expenses to reflect the typical lodging needs of a family, such as larger rooms or multiple rooms.

3. Ranking the Destinations:

The destinations were ranked from most to least expensive based on the total average daily cost per person. The top 10 most expensive and the top 10 least expensive destinations were highlighted in the final results.

4. Cost Adjustments:

All costs were averaged to provide a typical expense estimate. Prices were cross-referenced with seasonal data to ensure accuracy, reflecting the most common travel periods for each destination.
